Trying to post on social media but drawing a blank? Here are some easy tips so that you never feel like you’ve run out of new ideas to post! Try writing down enough to last you an entire month so you can save yourself time and mental energy with your social media marketing everyday. Also, if you have your ideas mapped out ahead of time, you’re more likely to post consistently!

Keep in mind – people hate commercials.

One of the most common mistakes businesses make on social media is to treat their posts like a newspaper ad. The truth is that if all you’re posting about is your products and services, you’re wasting your time on social media. Doing so just trains your existing followers to scroll past your posts as soon as they show up in their feed, and scares away any potential new followers. Yes, some of your posts should absolutely drive your audience into your sales funnel, but keep in mind this simple rule: The 80/20 rule. 20% of your content should absolutely be about sales (if that’s the reason you’re using social media). The remaining 80% of your posts should provide value – either entertainment and education (bonus points for both!).

Get into your clients heads.

What do they want to know? Where are they hanging out? What are they talking about with their friends and peers? Where do they like to shop? What do they like to do with their spare time? The more you know about your potential clients, the easier it will be to create content that is sure to grab their attention! If you’re feeling unsure about this, ask some of your past clients if they would be willing to answer a short questionnaire. Make sure to tell them how much you’ve enjoyed working with them and that you’d love to work with more people just like them!

What questions have you been asked?

Chances are that if one person asked you a question, there are several other people wanting to know the same thing. If you haven’t been asked any questions lately, you can do a google search for, “frequently asked questions about (fill in the blank with your industry)”. This is a great way to create valuable, educational content for your audience. Plus, you’ll be positioning yourself as an expert in your field!

Check in with Facebook Groups.

What groups are your ideal clients hanging out in? What hot topics are being discussed in these groups? Create posts discussing your thoughts on these topics! The more you immerse yourself into these groups, the more you’ll learn about your ideal audience and the better you’ll be able to serve them. Also, you’ll notice that people will ask questions in these groups that will naturally lead the discussion over to your products and services. Sometimes, you’ll even get tagged and recommended when this happens, which is a great way to generate solid leads!

Take a look at your calendar.

Do you have any big events happening this month? Will you be attending anything exciting that you think your ideal client would be interested in checking out? Will your business be reaching any milestones? Would you like to share any personal days like anniversaries or birthdays with your audience? Another great place to check when you’re brainstorming ideas is National Day Calendar – https://nationaldaycalendar.com . Most days have several national days assigned to them! Check out what’s coming up and see if anything speaks to you as a part of your brand or if any of the days would just be fun for your audience to celebrate.

Don’t forget to share!

If you’ve recently tried a product or service that you think your target audience would enjoy, make sure to share it! Create an honest review, and make sure to tag the company whose product or service you’re featuring. This helps your social media on so many levels! If it’s a company with a larger following than yours, share that post in your stories and make sure to tag that company in the story. That way, they can easily share your post in their stories – which means your page is now being shared with a brand new audience of potential followers (and clients)! And for all those B2B entrepreneurs, if the product or service you’re featuring happens to be an ideal client for you, tagging them in your stories and following up with a quick thank you message is a great way to start a conversation with them in your DMs without having to send a cold sales message.

Follow through.

Now that you have a full month’s worth of ideas to pull from, the next step is to plan out your visual content! No matter which social media platforms you’re using, pairing your information with eye-catching visual content is the best way to make sure that your post stands out among the crowd. Take these ideas and create a list of photos, videos and graphics you’d like to pair with each content prompt. Then shoot everything on your list in a single day! That way, you can easily create a consistent social media campaign because you’ll only need to spend a few minutes each day posting.

Happy posting!!
