Join us Tuesday, October 14, 2014, from 6:30 to 8:30 pm for our Authors’ Salon. This event, which is open to the public, is designed to promote and support local authors by providing a forum to share resources and challenges in writing and publishing.
The evening program will feature Susan Meissner, author of 13 books including Girl in the Glass, winner of the 2013 San Diego Book Award. Her latest book, A Fall of Marigolds, is a compelling story that will take you to the halls of Ellis Island’s Hospital in 1911, as well as the streets of Manhattan in the present day.
Susan will be joined by indie author M. Louisa Locke who writes cozy mysteries set in Victorian San Francisco. Her success as a self-published author allowed her to retire early as a history professor at Mesa College. Her latest title is Bloody Lessons: A Victorian San Francisco Mystery.
After each author gives a brief presentation, Linda Scott, founder of eFrog Press and an author herself, will facilitate the panel discussion, posing questions to the guest authors about the content of their books, the challenges faced by authors and what is next for them. Linda will also discuss common pitfalls and misconceptions about publishing ebooks as well as provide publishing resources for authors.
The cost to attend is $15 per person, payable using the link below. The fee for Hera Hub members is $10. Wine and a light sampling of desserts will be served. Attendance is strictly limited. Authors’ Salon will be presented quarterly at Hera Hub, Carlsbad. For more information, email authorssalon@herahub.com
