In honor of Father’s Day on Sunday, June 21, we asked our members to share the most important thing their fathers have taught them.  It turns out, we all could take a few lessons away from this great fatherly advice!

Lisa Boyle Dad“The best advice my father ever gave me was on relationships. I was 11 and my family just relocated back stateside after a 5-year tour in Germany. I was having a hard time fitting in and making friends. My father said ‘Baby girl, YOU don’t need to fit in with other people, they need fit in with you.’ Since that day, I’ve applied that advice to all my relationships. I will only invest in relationships that are positive, supportive and mutually beneficial.”

-Lisa Boyle, Founder of Paradigm Shift SEO

Lee Anne Davis Dad“My dad was a big, gregarious people person, a big dreamer and prolific creator. He always told me that we (our family) come from sturdy stock, which helps me find inner strength when needed. His legacy that he left for me was his passion for the arts & all things creative: music, dance, art & museums. His legacy lives on through me & my kiddos in countless ways.”

-Lee Anne Davis, CEO of PromoVentures

Kristen Paruginog Dad“My dad taught me to be independent, tough, and to always chase after my dreams. My dad is one of my biggest fans and I couldn’t be more grateful for that!”

-Kristen Paruginog, Executive Director and Founder of Break the Silence Against Domestic Violence

Katherine Zacharias Adopted Dad“My adopted dad always taught me to not worry about the things I couldn’t do anything about. Here we are deep sea fishing in Hawaii in the late 90s. Who would have thought I would find out 15+ yrs later that I am Hawaiian?! I just met my birth father last year. I will let you know what he teaches me, so far I know he lives life to the fullest and with no worries. Aloha!”

-Katherine Wichmann Zacharias, Financial Rep and Agency Vice President for Five Rings Financial

Sarah Bacerra Dad

“The most important thing my dad taught me was to always, always, ALWAYS be true to myself and what I believe in. He was a walking embodiment of that every day of my life.”

-Sarah Bacerra, Community Director of Hera Hub Sorrento Valley

Silvia Mah Dad

“My father was an extremely successful entrepreneur, I appreciate & realize that so much more now that I am one. Not the best father figure of emotional support but as an orphan & political prisoner during WWII, he valued more the financial support/legacy he had to provide to his family. I am an angel investor thanks to his hard work. I’ll be forever grateful.”

-Silvia Mah, CEO of Hera LABS and Hera Fund
