I love San Diego, not just for it’s beaches, gorgeous weather, and attractions but the people that make up its diverse community.
This amazing city of ours has received some lovely press this year, as it was recently cited as the top city for startups by Forbes. America’s Finest City has also been titled “America’s happiest city” and for good reason. San Diego is an incredible town; a beautiful metropolis of technology, trade, business, education, and tourism. While I am so proud of the accolades and recognition America’s Finest City receives, I believe we have a lot of work to do to change the perception of our city from a beach town to a dynamic city of culture, arts, opportunity, small business, and entrepreneurship . I often imagine what the culture of San Diego will be like in ten years. I wonder how San Diego will grow and change, what it will look like for my future children, the startup community, and female entrepreneurs.
Myself and Hera Hub Founder, Felena Hanson, shared our thoughts regarding San Diego and our collective future, why we love living here and what we hope will change. This video is in response to the April 26th, One Day On Earth media-creation event, a special movement documenting stories inspired by filmmakers, non-profit organizations, and engaged citizens to come together and share their hope for their cities future. This collaborative event involves and showcases the future of 11 cities: Atlanta, Boston, Detroit, Denver, L.A., New York, New Orleans, Lower Rio Grande Valley, San Francisco, Twin Cities, and of course, San Diego.
