National Intern Day is celebrated annually on July 26th. This day aims to highlight the importance of internships in shaping the future workforce and providing young professionals with valuable real-world experience.
We sat down with three Hera Hub interns and a member to share advice and best practices for future interns and employers.

Kendall Brutus
Kendall is a recent graduate from John Jay College of Criminal Justice. She has a bachelor’s in Forensic Psychology with a minor in Counseling. She plans to continue her studies in graduate school and go on to be a Child Psychologist. Kendall is working under Dr. Alisha Wilkins at Hera Hub Temecula and contributing to the company’s research specifically in Strategic Leadership with a special emphasis on the use of Strategic Leadership in analytical and creative problem solving, data driven decision making, and negotiations.
Sofia Alvarez
Sofia Alvarez is a dedicated marketing student at San Diego State University, specializing in social media marketing, startup development, and digital marketing. She is currently a Marketing Intern at JMC OBM & Mentor, where she designs membership platforms, conducts competitive analysis, and establishes brand identity. As an Ambassador at Hera Hub, she supports the daily operations of a female-focused coworking space. Sofia also manages social media for Talitha Coffee, enhancing brand recognition and engagement. Additionally, she is a member of Alpha Phi International, where she contributes to community-building and philanthropy. Based in San Diego, Sofia is passionate about creating impactful marketing solutions.
Amelia Douglas
Amelia Douglas is an undergraduate at the University of San Diego, set to graduate in May 2025 with an International Business degree from the Knauss School of Business and a minor in Spanish. Currently a Marketing Intern at FeMAVEN Getaways, she manages projects for a travel membership platform and trip itineraries. Beyond academics, Amelia serves as the Social Chairwoman of Gamma Phi Beta sorority and the Events Director for the International Business Club. She is active in both the SIBC and Women in Business clubs. With over five years of experience in upscale dining in Denver and San Diego, she is currently expanding her skills at the San Diego Yacht Club, where she is known for her drive and outgoing personality in tackling challenges.
Ria Langheim, founder of eWallaby
Ria Langheim is the founder and CEO of eWallaby-a consumer energy planning and recommendation platform. After many years in the sustainable energy space, she started eWallaby with the goal of facilitating a green energy transition by offering transparency and agency to community members. The end-goal is a win-win scenario: combating climate change while helping consumers save money.
