Felena Hanson “virtually” sat down with Lamar Rutherford, to discuss the sale of her three businesses and her current career as a mergers & acquisition consultant via Exit Consulting Group, in San Diego, California.
Lamar Rutherford currently works as an M&A Advisor/Business Broker for Exit Consulting Group, helping owners transition out of their businesses, whether that is a sale to an external party, to a family member, partner or employee. She has helped over 100 businesses transition. She also founded, operated and sold three businesses of her own. In addition, she did brand management marketing for Nestle, Disney and Orient-Express, (a 5-star hotel chain now called Belmond), has been on the management teams for three Internet startups, and helped launch a B2B project management software company.
Lamar completed her undergraduate at the University of Washington and MBA at the Tuck School at Dartmouth College. She also earned her CPA license, while working for Arthur Andersen. She formerly taught Entrepreneurship for the Rady School of Management at the University of California, San Diego. For fun, she loves polo, yoga, hiking, skiing, theater, and traveling. She also wrote and published a fiction novel, CodeY.
