Recently Felena Hanson had the opportunity to interview the President and CEO of Downtown San Diego Partnership, Kris Michell. In the interview, Kris discusses with Felena how her career started out and where that has led her. She has done work with the Republican National Convention, the city mayor, and Petco Park. She also describes how she got into business.

She discusses how San Diego is going to grow by a million people over the next 30 years and in order to accommodate that we need 400,000 housing units and 500,000 jobs. In the future millennials will be taking over the work force and Kris and Felena discuss the impact of that. They discuss the flood to urban centers. In 2000 60% of college graduates said their future job would be in a city center. In 2010, 94% of college graduates said the same thing.

Kris talks about the analytic companies that are opening up in Downtown San Diego, that will put San Diego on the map. Companies, such as Rubios and Toys R US are able to use the information they provide.

The Downtown San Diego Partnership is supporting businesses by providing space and resources for small businesses. She believes if they succeed and thrive, then they do.
