Celebrated the fourth Thursday in April, today we celebrate Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day. 2016 is the 23rd year that parents, businesses and kids worldwide have embraced the concept of exposing young people to career opportunities and hopefully giving them a chance to make connections between things they learn in school and the professional world.

We had two of our members ask their daughters, “what does your mom do for work?”

Carmen Chavez de Hesee, Franchise Consultant and her daughter Marina

“Where my Mami works is amazing, so beautiful. I like to sit in the peacock chair. I think my Mami is a hard worker and I like to go to work with her because she lets me do whatever I want on the iPad, then we go out for lunch. When we are out driving around, I like to help my mami look for places to put the businesses she helps.”

“Marina recently turned 10, but she has had a business awareness for a long time already”, Carmen says. “One night while out to dinner, she asked about a very nice and well dressed women moving about the restaurant at a quick pace. When I told her she was the manager, Marina asked, ‘what is a Manager?’ I explained it was similar to my job at that time (I was running a franchise/doggie daycare), and Marina said, ‘What! I didn’t know you get to boss people around! When I grow up I want to be a manager too.’ “

“My mom is helping other women in the world to be confident in their business,” Sofia said. “I want to grow up to be just like my mom.”
