Capitalizing on Media AttentionWe have been so fortunate to be on the receiving end of some amazing media mentions. Some of them were expected, others came completely out of the blue. Having your company or product mentioned on a major website can be a huge boost to your business. It can help position your business as an authority, call attention to new products or promotions or provide an extra level of credibility.

When your potential clients see this coverage, it helps establish a deeper level of trust because the publicity is coming from a third party and not your own PR.

After our recent listings on Symmetry 50 and Mashable’s websites, we thought we should come up with a few promotional guidelines for our media team that could be implemented quickly should we find ourselves in the spotlight again.

If you were to find yourself in this situation, do you have a plan in place to capitalize on the media attention and use it to your advantage?

Here are eight things you can do quickly and easily to maximize your exposure across several media channels.

  • Write a post on your company blog
  • Publish a post on LinkedIn
  • Create a small ad spend for your Facebook Page
  • Send a “thank you” Tweet to the media outlet
  • Post on Instagram
  • Update your email signature with a link back to the media source
  • Create a video
  • Make a live announcement on a micro-blogging platform

And of course, you should be keeping the Press page of your website up-to-date as well.
